snap·shot – a brief appraisal, summary, or profile.

Every Monday we hope to provide our readers with snapshots of films being released for the upcoming weekend. This will be a brief summary of films that will assist our readers in the area of discernment.  Instead of searching other sites and reading lengthy articles, it’s our hope to provide a concise list of all the films of the weekend in one consolidated post.   • The Thing – In this remake of the 1982 horror film, researchers in Antarctica discover an alien craft that leads to terror and death. Genre – horror, action; content – strong violence and gore, disturbing images and language.
  • Footloose – A remake of the 1984 classic, in which Ren McCormack moves to a small town that has banned rock ‘n roll and dancing, but not his rebellious spirits.  Genre – comedy, cheesy, drama; content – sexuality, language.
  • The Skin I Live In – A brilliant plastic surgeon creates a type of synthetic skin that can withstand any corruption.  Genre – sci-fi, drama; content – graphic nudity, disturbing violent content, strong sexuality.
  • Trespass – Follows the story of a family held for ransom by a group of thieves who have broken into their home.  Genre – thriller, action, drama; content – violence, strong language, some sexuality.
  • The Big Year – Three avid bird watchers compete to spot the rarest bird in North America.  Genre – comedy; content – mild language and sensuality.
