What is this blog and why should I care?

Today is the official launch date of Reel Thinking, which means we join the ranks of an estimated 166,972,987 (according to BlogPulse) other blogs that are filling the blogosphere with a host of topics.  Therefore, what’s so special about this needle in the hay stack?  Well, a few things:

  • Reel Thinking exists to assist you in better appreciating God’s creation of film.  We hope to establish a biblical framework of viewing and better understanding Truth that is found in every film.
  • This is a site that places little, to no, emphasis on the MPAA rating system (a four-part blog on this will follow).  Sites that are similar to ours tend to place too much emphasis on ratings of film, which isn’t a biblical, or helpful, approach to watching films.
  • We will be posting reviews of films, old and new, as well as other helpful information to help you discerningly wade the waters of modern cinema.
While the idea of blogging is not unique and the idea of blogging about movies is not unique as well, we feel that this site uniquely assists Christians by illuminating film through the lens of Scripture.
